The Ministry of Defence announced on 19 May 2026 that 13 British technology companies had received accelerated contracts through Commercial X. THE RC DEN LTD was named among those businesses.

What the announcement says

The Government described the programme as part of its work to create faster routes for small, innovative British companies into defence and to identify businesses with the potential to scale into future billion-pound companies.

Commercial X assessed applicants against UK Armed Forces requirements across technology areas including AI and machine learning, robotics and autonomy, and precision capabilities. RCDEN’s inclusion is a meaningful public milestone for a company built around intelligent unmanned systems, specialist payloads and mission software.

RCDEN position

We see this as backing for practical British engineering: understanding the mission, integrating the whole system and moving quickly from a difficult requirement to evidence in the real world.

A platform for growth—not a claim of arrival

“Defence unicorn” describes the ambition of the scheme. RCDEN is not claiming to have already reached a billion-pound valuation. The important fact is that the company was selected and named in the Government announcement as one of the 13 businesses being backed through this route.

For customers and partners, the milestone reinforces RCDEN’s commitment to sovereign UK capability, responsible growth, operator-centred design and systems that are built for the mission rather than selected from a catalogue.
